He put others before himself, and he did it with a smile. That's how hundreds of people at Way to Salvation Church in Kent remembered Matthiew Stavkovy Sunday.

“He not only changed our tire but taught us how to do it ourselves," a friend added. "It was a simple act, yet it spoke volumes about his character."A choir created a musical celebration of life for the boy who loved singing with his family and who had been looking forward to joining the youth choir this fall.
Matthiew was born in Burien to a Christian family and was the fourth of six kids, according to family.“We were able to make so many good memories," Matthiew’s youngest brother Lucas cried. "Matthiew was a good example of how to love God with all your heart."His brother and sister said the animal-loving, trumpet-playing teen cared for his family, faith and church deeply.
“Even though Matthiew was younger than me, as an older brother, there was so much to learn from him," Matthiew’s brother Michael said. "He loved to serve others and help other people. He was never selfish."One suspect has been charged with murder and two others were arrested during a SWAT operation in Covington on Thursday. They could be slapped with charges in the coming days.
This family said their grief will eventually turn to joy for a life lived, even for a short time, with Matthiew.
