The short but labor-intensive menu is filled with authentic dishes including flavorful stews, curry, pate and fried beef and goat.
Inspired by the flavors of his native Haiti, he opened Five I Caribbean Haitian Restaurant at 2443 S. Front St. in Steelton. As a reminder of his success, Joseph posted a sign that reads “It was all a dream” in the restaurant.
“I didn’t always have the courage to open,” he said. “This year, we have the money and we said, ‘We’re going to go for it.’”The restaurant replaces the former One Love BBQ near the Halifax line. So far, he said many diners are learning about the restaurant from word of mouth and Google searches.
