As the cost of gas and electricity is set to reach record levels, care homes are yet to receive any financial support

Care home bosses fear they will be unable to be pay soaring energy bills this winter unless the Government steps in. .

"It's not financially viable and we will have to make some difficult decisions. It's hard to know how to save more money than we already do. It's not a conversation I am looking forward to having. "We can't keep going this way," he said. "Everything is going up for us but the government won't put our prices up."It is just difficult. We want to put our staff wages up but we are just not in a position to do so. We will just have to see how it goes."

"I have always paid my staff above the minimum wage but it has finally crept up on me now. All my staff know if I had the money I would give it back but at the moment we are really struggling." Care England, which represents adult social care providers in England, called on the Government to introduce a package of support.
