A woman lost control of her vehicle, crashing into a Chinese restaurant and injuring two people in Farmingdale, New York. This marks the second such incident in a year.
Two people sustained injuries and a Farmingdale restaurant suffered extensive damage after a woman lost control of her vehicle, colliding with two other cars and crashing into the storefront, according to police reports. A 57-year-old woman was driving a 2023 Hyundai Sante Fe northbound on N. Broadway when she lost control at the intersection of Boundary Avenue.
Investigators indicate that the woman proceeded through the intersection, striking two parked cars within the parking lot before ultimately crashing into the front of the Great Wall Chinese restaurant located at 47 Boundary Avenue #4 around 11:20 p.m. on Monday. The adjacent Subway restaurant also sustained damage in the collision. A 30-year-old man who was seated inside a 2017 Ford Mustang was injured during the accident. The second vehicle struck by the woman, a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta, was unoccupied.Following the incident, the Town of Oyster Bay Building Division issued emergency safeguard notifications for both establishments, prohibiting entry until they could undergo thorough inspections. This marks the second time in just over a year that a car has crashed into the front of the Great Wall Chinese restaurant. On January 27, 2024, a woman faced charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a crash into the Farmingdale shopping center. Video footage from that previous incident reveals that metal bollards were not positioned in front of the businesses at the time but have since been installed. Video recordings from Monday's crash show the car resting on the metal bollards, potentially mitigating more substantial damage.
