In fairness, a lot of Carol Danvers' relationships within the Marvel Universe are far from drama-free, but her already-complicated dynamic with former Captain Marvel Genis-Vell has steadily gone from bad to worse.

The Nega-Bands – which once belonged to his father and were the last remnants of him – were sacrificed in the battle with Omen. Not even a reunion with his close friend Rick Jones is enough to cheer Genis-Vell up. He's not just disappointed, he's enraged by the destruction of the Nega-Bands, feeling betrayed by Captain Marvel, outright telling her he's not sure if he can forgive this offense.
