It's far from the biggest campaign issue, but Gov. Mike DeWine's top spokesman isn't touching questions about GOP governors dumping on drag queens.

, which of course supports the reelection of Ohio's Mike DeWine, sent out a fundraising appeal Wednesday seeking campaign contributions so GOP governors can stand on the front lines to ban"drag queen story hours" in public schools and libraries.

"Friend, we need your help to stand up for our school children and fight back against politicians who want to destroy their innocence," said the national GOP group. "Radical Democrats across the country are openly supporting sexually charged 'Drag Queen Story Hours' for young school children.""There are many important issues facing this state. As such, this avenue of questioning is not a game with which we are intent on engaging in with you. If there is confusion on what is in Governor’s DeWine’s agenda, I am happy to forward you a copy of his State of the State speech," said spokesman Dan Tierney.

In response to further Dispatch inquiries noting DeWine is an RGA member and has received campaign contributions from the organization –in the first quarter of 2022 alone – Tierney said: "It is the definition of a simple 'gotcha' question and an attempt to bait us on a hot-button issue."Drag queen performances a hot button issue for many in central Ohio
