Around the Capitol Complex, COVID protocols vary as much as inside the Capitol itself.
In the Judicial Center, masks are encouraged but only required during proceedings in Commonwealth Court courtrooms and training sessions. The attorney general’s office requires its employees to mask up if working near others.
Auditor general’s office employees are strongly encouraged to wear masks in the Finance Building and when visiting audit sites regardless of their vaccination status, said that office’s spokesman Gary Miller. At the Treasury office in the Finance Building, employees follow mask requirements set for commonwealth workers under the governor’s jurisdiction with some exceptions, such as when they are working alone at a workstation, while visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks, said spokesman Erik Arneson.
Social distancing, self-screening questions, and telework policies also remain in effect to some degree in many offices. State government employees are encouraged to be vaccinated. However, for those who work in state health care facilities or high-risk congregate care facilities such as state prisons, vaccinations are required to avoid weekly COVID-19 testing.
