The Capelli Sport 210 Countdown City Classic Volleyball Tournament brought thousands of players and spectators to San Antonio, boosting the local economy.

The Valero Alamo Bowl wasn’t the only huge sporting event in downtown San Antonio this weekend. The Capelli Sport 210 Countdown City Classic Tournament , presented by Proctor and Gamble, brought thousands of volleyball players from all over Texas to the city. Over 500 girls and boys volleyball teams and more than 30,000 spectators enjoyed hundreds of matches throughout the weekend.

When speaking with the event’s co-organizer, Jamie Blair, he shared how much it means to him and his team to have such a massive volleyball tournament in San Antonio. “Knowing that we’re able to offer something like this locally for San Antonio clubs where we’ve rooted ourselves in the volleyball community, it’s been really special for us to have such an impact not only socially but financially on the local economy as well,” said Blair. “They’re able to come and see a beautiful city and experience what we have to offer, but see that this tournament is not only the largest but also one of the most competitive, and it’s worth coming to town.” The economic projected impact for this year’s event is in the $5 million range and will be officially calculated after the weekend
