Cape Town City are not keen for another match against Kaizer Chiefs this season, if the latest comments from the Mother City club’s head coach Eric Tinkler are anything to go by.
Four months ago, Chiefs confirmed that they were unable to host the match against City which was scheduled for December 04 due to Covid-19 outbreak at the club after 31 employees reportedly tested positive for the virus.
However, SAFA arbitrator Nazeer Cassim ruled in favour of Amakhosi in March that the DStv Premiership matches they did not play be re-scheduled for another date by the League, although since that ruling the PSL Executive Committee has had meetings to discuss if the League would appeal that outcome. As reported by the Siya crew, the court date for Chiefs’ dispute with the PSL has been set for May 10 at the Johannesburg High Court, as confirmed by sources in the know.
Having made the trip from Cape Town Johannesburg to honour the match but found no opponents anywhere near the FNB Stadium, the Citizens don’t seem to be interested in another journey up North, if the match was to be replayed.“No, rules are the rules, it can’t be rules for different teams.
