A Canton task force arrested a man Friday who faces charges for allegedly escaping from a Stark County correction center earlier this month.

According to a press release from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force , Daniel Hilty, 35, allegedly was being held at the Stark Regional Community Correction Center to complete a residential program.NOVFTF officials say on October 11, Hilty allegedly used chairs to climb up a drainpipe and scale the roof to escape from the facility.

The NOVFTF in Canton and the Stark Regional Community Correction Center investigated Hilty’s escape immediately. On Friday, the NOVFTF arrested Hilty on the 200 block of Scott Avenue in Niles, the press release says.In a joint statement by U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot and Stark County Sheriff George Maier said:

“Due to our strong partnerships and the joint efforts of our task force agencies, we were able to safely apprehend this fugitive. It was a great effort by all involved to stay focused on this case and help ensure the safety of the community by getting this fugitive off the streets.
