Canton police say officers shot and killed a dog Thursday while responding to a domestic violence call.
It happened after officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to a home in the 300 block of Tyler Avenue SE.
In a 911 call obtained by 19 News, a man told a dispatcher, “I need the police down here... right now... because if you’re not, you’re gonna be calling the coroner.”When officers arrived, their body camera video shows a woman and her three kids standing in the front yard with a dog.Then, the video shows the dog, who police said was a Cane Corso, run in the direction of an officer.“You just shot my dog,” the woman cried out. “Yes, I did. It was coming at me,” the officer replied.
