The amount of redevelopment funds for the Madrid Theater Improvement Project in Canoga Park may go from about $890,000 to almost $3 million. Once it is opened, the Madrid Theatre will be managed by the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and the department will work in partnership with local arts organizations.
Flynn said the councilmember’s team is working on a plethora of projects — all of them part of the Canoga Park Arts Hub district that will stretch along the Canoga Park-Reseda corridor and will encircle Reseda Theater on Sherman Way.. Before it was purchased by the city in 2019, the theater was home to the West Valley Playhouse and Masonic Lodge.
