Carter, a state champion coach in Louisiana, spent the past season as an assistant coach...
Two weeks to the day after Michelle Rochinski stepped down as the head coach of the two-time defending state champion Lake Creek Lions, the softball program has its new head coach.
Carter takes the helm of a Lions team that has gone 123-3 over the previous three seasons with University Interscholastic League Class 5A championships in 2022 and 2023.“I was almost at a loss for words,” Carter said. “It was just pure joy and excitement. I’m just ready to lead these girls to continued success.”
“I loved my time at Barbe and I absolutely loved Louisiana,” Carter said. “When I got the call from Coach Rochinski, she was 100 percent the reason why I decided to make the move. Getting to learn under somebody as established and distinguished as her…I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get to be an assistant to someone who is not only a great coach, but is a great mentor and a great friend,” Carter said.
Lake Creek won 82 consecutive games - a new Texas state record – that spanned the entire 2022 season until a Game 2 loss to Georgetown in this year’s Region III-5A championship series.
