Fort Bend ISD school board electionShirley Rose-Gilliam in Position 4 and Angie Hanan in Position 1 are seeking new three-year terms. A third seat open for election is Position 5 held by Denetta Williams.
Four other candidates have thrown their hats in the ring as of Thursday. Oscar Saenz, an engineer from Richmond, is running for Position 1. Sugar Land-based consultant Cheryl Anne Buford is running for Position 4. Two candidates have filed for Position 5 — Allision Drew, an enterprise data architect from Sugar Land, and Sonya Jones, a teacher from Rosharon.
Candidate filing began on Jan. 18. The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is 5 p.m. Feb. 17.
