The owners of a Canal Street restaurant and a pub in Sale have announced both venues have closed with immediate effect.
Couple Lisa Kettle and Danielle Condron have run The Bridge Pub and Dining in Sale since 2016 with a second restaurant venture, No 1 Canal Street, opening in 2017. The Gay Village venue was named the best restaurant in Manchester at 2019’s British Restaurant Awards.
“This has been a very hard decision during these difficult times. We’d like to express our heartfelt thanks to our amazing customers, and the team that has made everything possible.” Daniel Carter Smith wrote: “Such a huge shame. Easily one of the best venues on Canal Street.” John Evans commented: “So sad, our favourite venue. Thank you for all the great times and best wishes to all.”
Richard Render added: “Oh my god I’m so sad. You created the best restaurant Canal Street has ever had, with fantastic service and amazing food. The cost of living crisis is killing lots of businesses but I know you’ll be back.”
