in one of the deadliest attacks against Muslims in Canada since a shooting at a Quebec mosque four years ago.

Police in London, Ontario, a city of nearly 500,000 about 120 miles west of Toronto, said they filed four first-degree murder charges and one attempted-murder charge against a 20-year-old man after a hit-and-run Sunday night in the northwest part of the city. A pickup truck struck pedestrians, all from the same family, waiting to cross the road. Police said they believe hate motivated the driver to plan the attack.

“We believe the victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith,” London police chief Steve Williams said at a news conference on Monday. Those who died included two women, ages 74 and 44; a 15-year-old girl; and a 46-year-old man. A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries, Chief Williams said.To Read the Full Story
