SMU has opened its American Athletic Conference with two wins and the Mustangs will take it. But the offense has still yet to gel into the fully realized unit...
Although SMU is 4-2 and 2-0 in the AAC, the offense gained a season-low 334 yards in the Mustangs’ win last week.
“Just really proud of our defense. That game’s not to our standard offensively, and I feel good that it’ll be different this Friday,” he said.If Temple’s defense remains on a similar path, it certainly should be different for SMU’s offense. The Owls have lost three consecutive games and are allowing 30 points a game at home.So what’s wrong SMU’s offense? Apart from being outmuscled against East Carolina, Lashlee hopes its “feast or famine” nature evens out a bit the rest of the season.
“You can’t be a consistently good offense at a high level if it’s just all or nothing,” he said. “Once that clicks, then I think we’ll continue to make some good plays, and our bad plays aren’t bad right now, but we don’t have nearly enough good ones. And again, just basic simple routine things.”
