Campaign 2024: Supporters of Robert F. Kennedy, Junior’s presidential campaign have delivered signatures to Alabama’s secretary of state in the hopes of getting Kennedy’s name on the November ballot.
The group of volunteers from North Alabama says it has 15,000 signatures from voters wanting Kennedy’s name to be included. Today is the deadline to turn in signatures to allow a third-party candidate to have his or her name on the general election ballot. Kennedy is running as an independent candidate. He is the son of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated while running for president in 1968, and is the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated while in office in 1963.
The volunteers said that many voters they have encountered already thought that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s, name was on the ballot or didn’t know signatures were required.“It’s up to the state to make sure that we have the correct number of required signatures so that when voters go and vote on November 5, underneath or wherever in the lineup, you’ll see Harris, you’ll see Trump and you’ll see Robert F Kennedy, Jr.,” Kennedy campaign volunteer Amy Castor said.
Castor said the 15,000 signatures were collected on 1,759 pages. She said only 5,000 signatures are required.Campaign 2024: Vance, Walz agree to a vice presidential debate hosted by CBS Oct. 1
