The Australia international wants to become all-round midfielder with the help of his boss at Tynecastle.
Cammy Devlin admits there’s a simple reason his career as a striker was binned after just a few games.
And he revealed: "I was a striker when I was younger .. but that only lasted a few games. I think it's pretty clear I'm not the best goalscorer. I like tackling too much as well! That's two pretty important things. "It's about building your all-round game, going from a defensive midfielder to an all-round midfielder. It's exciting. If someone is putting in time to make you better then embrace it and work hard because that's how you become a better footballer.
“This bit where I win the ball back and start the play but then the next phase of the attack when the ball is moving forward to go and join in and create a little bit, be a bit braver on the ball. He treats every national call-up like the best day of his life so seeing the squad drop on Thursday morning minus his name hit hard.
“I didn't expect to because of the run the boys were on. Getting in the Socceroos, if you start expecting it then it's probably a really bad thing to be comfortable with.
