Duchess Camilla was officially granted a new royal title over the weekend—with a new tiara to match.
, there was some question as to whether she would be known as Queen Consort or Princess Consort when he eventually became king. But the monarch stated that it is her “sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.” A spokesperson for Clarence House, the home of Charles and Camilla, said that the couple is “touched and honored” by the decision.
To commemorate his mother reaching the historic milestone of becoming the longest-reigning monarch in British history, Charles also released a statement on behalf of himself and his wife congratulating her “on the remarkable achievement of serving this nation, the Realms and Commonwealth for 70 years. The Queen's devotion to the welfare of all her people inspires still greater admiration with each passing year.
