Conservatives putting forth conservative policy ideas isn’t a threat to America. It is a clear and vital challenge to progressive liberalism and the federal bureaucracy.

Be afraid. Hide your children. A conservative think tank from the swamp of Washington, D.C., has joined with like-minded groups around the country to develop a comprehensive list of federal policies that could change America forever. The Heritage Foundation’s much malignedBefore we ever discuss the Heritage Foundation project, we should realize that he fuss around Project 2025 is politically manufactured.

Trump, realizing no benefit in endorsing a policy product from the Heritage Foundation, kicked it to the curb. “I know nothing about Project 2025,” the former president wrote. “I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.

Even as a conservative, I’m not in the tank for the Heritage Foundation. I lost a lot of love when the think tank whored itself out on isolationist trade policies to match Trump’s preferences which resulted in a competitive advantage for China. Watching the titan of conservative thought attempt to uncritically institutionalize “Trumpism” was political pandering at its worst.

In either event, conservatives putting forth conservative policy ideas isn’t a threat to America. It is a clear and vital challenge to progressive liberalism and the federal bureaucracy. That’s why Democrats and aligned media presently engage in extreme hyperbole about Project 2025. Chapter after chapter, the policy guide walks through the federal government and suggests conservative improvements.

Project 2025 also breaks company with Trump in important ways as well. It calls for America to “ejoin the Trans-Pacific Partnership , whose 11 members are developing institutional trade norms in an important geopolitical region without U.S. input or involvement.”
