In this digital age, students need to be equipped with skills to apply in a multifaceted, multitasking, technology-driven world.

They need to learn tools essential to everyday life, in an environment of information overload, multiple choices and abundant opportunities.

The Cambridge Global Perspectives interdisciplinary programme compels students aged five to 19 to contemplate global issues that they care about while developing life-long skills such as critical thinking, research, collaboration and evaluation. A survey leading up to Cambridge Global Perspectives Week found that Malaysian youths are proactively taking action to tackle global issues and want to pursue careers that make a difference to society.

Over a quarter of Malaysian students identified climate change as the biggest issue the world is facing today, which aligns with sentiments of students around the globe. “Many schools regularly review their values then seek to re-design the curriculum so that it supports their vision. As more and more school communities emphasise the need to understand global interdependence and caring for living systems worldwide, the curriculum will increasingly reflect those values. The fast growing popularity of the CGP syllabus is a good example, ” he said.
