Former NFL player Cam Newton, who has eight children, tells People magazine that he wants more kids. He says his children are his 'refuge,' 'peace,' and 'encouragement.' The article also details Newton's previous relationships and the challenges of transitioning from the NFL to fatherhood.
“Did I tell you I want more?” Newton, 35, told People in an interview published on Thursday, February 6, when asked about his kids.
'But jokingly, and not jokingly, they really give me my purpose and there’s so many different things that I look at to say, they’re my refuge. They’re my peace. They’re my encouragement,” he said. 'There’s times where, even I’m here and they’re still at home. Those type of things affect me but it also gives me more reason to say I’m doing this because of that situation.”
Newton and Proctor split in 2020, after she learned that he was unfaithful. “I was never married but the relationship, I thought it was going toward marriage and then my partner at the time had an outside baby,” Proctor said in a September 2024 YouTube video, seemingly referring to Newton. “He had a baby outside of our relationship that I was not OK with.”
Newton is also father to son Caesar, whom he welcomed in July 2019 with LaReina Shaw, who is also mother to son Jaden, born in February 2006, from a previous relationship. Newton welcomed his youngest child, a baby girl, in March 2024, whom he shares with girlfriend Jasmin Brown.
