Dominic Calvert-Lewin was speaking following Everton's 2-1 Premier League defeat to Luton Town

For Dominic Calvert-Lewin, it was yet another afternoon of mixed emotions as Everton’s poor start to the season continued against Luton Town.

A combination of shambolic defending for both of Luton’s goals and poor finishing during the opening 45 minutes meant it was yet another day for the Blues to forget in front of their own supporters. Calvert-Lewin, however, is refusing to hit the panic button just yet, despite the fact that his side is now just one point above the drop zone.

“We had chances, but we weren’t clinical enough or ruthless enough in the first-half, and we should have been, myself included. And, on another day, we wanted a better result.” Despite the disappointment, Calvert-Lewin does take small comfort in the number of chances his side is creating. Dwight McNeil fired a volley narrowly wide before the forward himself, James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Amadou Onana all failed to hit the target when presented with good opportunities.
