Caloocan barangay put under total lockdown over rising COVID-19 cases

A barangay along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue in Caloocan City will be placed in a week-long total lockdown starting 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17 over rising coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) cases.

In its official Facebook page, Barangay 12 officials said the area will be put on lockdown until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.

Data from the city government showed that as of Saturday afternoon, Barangay 12 is the one with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the city with 27 cases. Members of the Caloocan City Health Department will be conducting mass testing in the area during the total lockdown. During the lockdown, no one will be allowed to go in and out of the barangay except for frontline workers those with medical emergencies.The Caloocan City government will be providing relief goods for residents who are affected by the lockdown. Additionally, some barangay watchmen will be assigned to buy basic necessities for Barangay 12 residents.

There are now 332 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Caloocan City with 85 recoveries and 25 deaths as of Saturday afternoon.
