The captain hopes to rekindle memories of years previous when hosting the Italian side in Glasgow.
It was labelled the Miracle of Stoppage Time by respected Italian football bible Gazzetta dello Sport.
McGregor knows the result four years ago against the Biancocelesti won’t count for much this evening but it can provide inspiration. The skipper said: “It was a wee while ago now but obviously a really positive night. It was a tough game and to win it in that fashion in the last couple of minutes was great.
Celtic showed huge character to come from behind in both Lazio clashes – with Olivier Ntcham nabbing a last-minute winner in Rome – and that kind of resilience is required again. McGregor can sense something stirring at Celtic though. He was also part of the last Hoops side to win in this competition – against Anderlecht in 2017 – and is looking to end that unwanted record.
“But what a scene for us tomorrow. First home game under the lights, can we harness that type of performance? Can everyone give their absolute maximum and see where it takes us? “When the team has that as a collective, the performance levels can sky rocket. We are probably waiting on that moment as a group and the quicker we get it the more it will stand us in good stead.”
