Parents have blasted the plan to move Balloch Library to the building, which houses Balloch Primary, St Kessog’s Primary, Balloch Early Learning and Childcare Centre (ELCC) and an Additional Support Needs (ASN) unit.

Calls have been made for a public meeting over a “scandalous” decision to re-locate a library to a school campus.

The library will be situated on the ground floor at the front of the Balloch Primary School building, with the head teacher’s office and space used by the staff of Balloch ELCC transformed into the new library area. She said: “We want an open meeting about this for parents and for members of the public. It’s not just about the school. It’s everybody in the community who uses this library. The level of communication has been shocking. There was no public consultation.

“We just got told it was happening, I would ask the council for a public meeting because they need to hear us out.” SNP group leader Karen Murray Conaghan said parents and carers will understandably have a number of questions and concerns.“Those who use the library will also have a questions and concerns about how they will access the library during school times, what services and activities won’t now be provided and whether hours of access outwith the school opening times will match what they are used to in the dedicated library building.
