About 100 Msunduzi Municipality employees have been caught in a scam allegedly signed off by the municipality.
PIETERMARITZBURG - The Msunduzi local municipality in KwaZulu-Natal has stolen around R30-million from its employees. It's considering legal action against officials to have the money returned to its rightful owners.
After 30 years of service or more, some retired Msunduzi employees have walked out with a mere R100,000. The employees were promised millions if they invested in a fund which was monitored by a broker and endorsed by the municipality. While many were promised a retirement lump sum of over half a million rand, some have been left to retire in poverty.* eNCA's Nqobile Madlala reports.
