Victoria's Government is being urged to create two new precincts near the city including a rebuild of the MCG's Shane Warne Stand, to spill out over rail lines.
But Sky News can reveal development on the precinct known as Flinders to Richmond has stalled, with the newly appointed Precincts Minister Colin Brooks acknowledging the government is a “long way” from an update on its progress.
Mr Guerra says a proposed redevelopment of the MCG’s Southern Stand, now known as the Shane Warne stand could also include an activation of the space. “ is a priority precinct, we’re a long way from having more to say about that at this point of time,” Minister Brooks told Sky News in an exclusive interview.
Attendees were challenged to think about how the state could sustainably grow, as its population surges to a projected nine million by 2050. “I really feel like you can connect the three precincts up, in a triangle, connected through the Yarra river,” she said.It challenged key stakeholders in the room to help build Victoria into a stronger state, despite big debt and business challenges.“We need absolute transformation because if we do that, the social reform will come with it as well."
