A petition is calling for an end to the early closure of Glasgow's subway on Sundays, arguing that it should remain open until 11.40pm and saying the measure is 'out of date'
A new petition launched on Change.org called for an end to the early closures on Sunday, arguing that the measure is "out of date". The campaign calls for the subway to be open until 11.40pm - the same as the other days of the week.
The petition was launched by Kier Davison, who described the early closure as “unnecessary” and said it increased the difficulty of people being able to get home safely, particularly women. “Additionally, due to the notoriously unreliable bus services in Glasgow, and the fact most people cannot afford to get a taxi every Sunday, the subway is often the only reliable option for many people in Glasgow. “The subway service has demonstrated that it is more than capable of staying open late on Sundays, as it has done so to accommodate for Christmas shopping times and for Football matches. Why is it that football games are given priority over people's safety?” Join Glasgow Live's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages
