A resident urges the city to address safety concerns at the intersection of 1300 East and E Murray Holladay Road, citing numerous near-accidents involving drivers and pedestrians, particularly children. The resident requests repairs to malfunctioning crosswalk buttons, a reduction in road lanes to accommodate bicycle lanes and pedestrian buffers, establishment of a school zone, installation of red arrow signals for turning vehicles, and sidewalk and bike lane improvements along 1300 East.
The intersection of 1300 East and E Murray Holladay Road has had several near accidents where drivers turning left and right have come close to hitting children.
Second, I request that E Murray Holladay Road from at least 1300 East to Kings Row Drive be changed from a five lane road to a three lane road, add bicycle lanes for increased biker safety and buffer for pedestrians on the sidewalks, and designate this section as a school zone. I would further request that 1300 East be worked on in this area. It is distressing to travel 1300 East and see areas with no sidewalks or bike lanes, especially where there are bus stops.
