Calkins Road neighbors gathered Thursday, June 6, 2024, walking a mile down their road and taking notes on the street's safety, which will be shared with Monroe County ahead of an improvement project slated to begin in 2026. Henrietta , N.Y. — Neighbors on Calkins Road are coming together to assess the street's safety ahead of a highway improvement project.
"The whole idea is to just take a look at things and make our roads as accessible to everyone who needs them in the day that we're living in," said Patrick Fox, a volunteer for AARP. The "walk audit," as Leanne Rorick puts it, gives an objective look at the road and what can be done to improve its safety.
