California , the biggest U.S. market for electric vehicles , said zero-emission cars and trucks accounted for a recordin the second quarter. Governor Gavin Newsom praised gains by companies including Rivian and Ford while noting a 24% drop for Tesla .
Sales of so-called zero-emission vehicles , including battery, plug-in and hydrogen-electric autos, totaled 118,181 in the quarter that ended June 30, the second-highest recorded though down from 125,939 a year earlier.
