Victor Davis Hanson, a historian and political commentator, criticizes California and Los Angeles leaders for their inadequate response to the devastating wildfires. He points to several contributing factors, including empty fire hydrants, a dysfunctional reservoir, a defunded fire department, a lack of new water infrastructure, and the release of water into the ocean despite reservoirs being at reduced capacity.

There were many things that preceded the 'nonsensical' response from Los Angeles and California state leaders to the devastating wildfires that continue to blaze across the region, according to historian and political commentator Victor Davis Hanson. 'To mitigate you have to know what went wrong, and there were short-term and long-term problems,' Davis, a Hoover Institution public policy think tank senior fellow, told Fox News Digital in a Tuesday interview.
