About a dozen dogs and nearly 30 cats arrived at the Best Friends animal adoption center in Salt Lake City from California shelters overwhelmed by animals displaced by wildfires. This is part of a larger effort by Best Friends to help move over 250 animals from the Los Angeles area to make space for newly displaced animals.

<p>SALT LAKE CITY — About a dozen dogs and nearly 30 cats arrived at the Best Friends animal adoption center Wednesday night, after a one-hour flight from California.

</p><p>Best Friends is putting out a request for foster homes, as they too need to make room in its shelters.
