An 18-year-old is facing multiple charges after he allegedly murdered a US Marine amid a spree of other crimes.
A California teenager is facing multiple charges, including murder, related to a 'violent crime spree' that resulted in the death of a U.S. Marine.U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Robert McDonald, 35, was killed in the crime spree carried out on May 20 by 18-year-old Rudy Garcia Jr., the San Bernardino District Attorney's Office said in a press release.Deputies received a report of four to five people drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance in Twentynine Palms just before 8 a.m.
Garcia fled again, but was found nearby by deputies and taken into custody. They also recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.Garcia was charged on Thursday with murder, attempted carjacking, attempted second-degree robbery, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm and two counts of willful, deliberate, and premeditated attempted murder.Garcia was arraigned by video at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Courthouse.
