District administrators are advised to tell parents if a student under 12 requests to identity as a gender opposite their biological sex.

A California school district is defying impending state law by allowing administrators to notify some parents of their children's gender identity.

Under the resolution, district officials are advised to notify parents if a student under 12 requests to be "identified or treated consistent" with a gender which does not align with their biological sex. Parents should be made aware within three school days of an administrator learning of the request, according to the resolution.
