The department announced the arrest at around 10 a.m. About an hour before, deputies arrested a man at a home near Torrance, in unincorporated territory, who had been barricaded there overnight.
The agency didn’t tie together the announcement and the arrest, but neighbors said deputies told them the man inside the home was the suspect in the killing of Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell.
Deputies first went to the house on the 20400 block Kenwood Avenue in West Carson at around midnight early Monday morning, Hernandez said. That standoff lasted until the man inside finally emerged at around 9 a.m.
