California's attorney general has sent cease-and-desist letters to the state Republican Party after unauthorized ballot drop boxes were placed across California — including at the party's own offices. State officials called the action illegal.
also reported that the Fresno County Republican Party had on its website a list of"secure" ballot drop-off locations, including its own offices, gun shops and other businesses. None were official county drop box sites. As of Monday evening, that list appeared to have been removed from the party's website.
In a series of tweets on Monday night posted by the California Republican Party and attributed to Barajas, the state GOP defended its position at greater length,in part:"In California, where you can have convicted felons and individuals with a criminal history go door to door and collect ballots from voters, Democrats are now upset because organizations, individuals and groups are offering an opportunity for their friends, family and patrons to drop off their ballot with someone they know...
