Police in Southern California said Friday a man shot a suspect who was breaking into a car.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said Alexander Marquez, 36, of Rancho Cucamonga, called in a vehicle burglary around 8:15 a.m. Friday in Bloomington.Deputies arrived to find the suspect, Dennis Smith, 24, of Hemet, suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.Police said they had seized evidence related to the incident, but didn’t say if Mr. Smith would face any charges.
Authorities said Mr. Marquez was seen holding a firearm when they arrived, but then fled inside a business. He was detained without incident soon after.Police said the investigation into the shooting remains active.
