ROCKLIN, California — A man who helped a family of ducks cross a busy street was killed when he was struck by a vehicle.
Casey Rivara, 41, died at the scene after he was hit by a vehicle driven by a teen, according to a news release from the Rocklin Police Department. The teen remained at the scene and police say the driver is unlikely to face charges. According to police, Rivara parked his vehicle near an intersection at about 8:15 p.m. on May 18 and got out in an attempt to help a family of ducks get across the street safely. Shortly after the ducks crossed, the vehicle struck Rivara, who was still on the street, police say.
