A suspected hit-and-run driver fatally stabbed a man who was pursuing him on foot, Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said.
The initial crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the city of Baldwin Park. Two teenagers — a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy — were struck by a car on a residential block. The driver first tried to flee in his car but hit an unoccupied parked vehicle. As he ran from the scene, he was chased by family members of the teens. When one of them, a 35-year-old man, tried to detain him, the suspect stabbed him in the torso, the sheriff’s report said.The stabbed man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The two teens were also taken to a hospital; their injuries were not considered life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
