Authorities said 36-year-old Danh Thanh Nguyen approached a man seated in his vehicle and made “derogatory comments” about Hispanic people before throwing a cup of gasoline onto him.
A man was arrested on suspicion of civil rights violations, attempted murder, and attempted arson after police said he attacked a man with anti-Latinx epithets and gasoline in Westminster on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Nguyen made “derogatory comments” about Latinx people toward the man, threw a cup of gasoline onto him, and tried to ignite the flame, according to Westminster police spokesperson Kevin MacCormick.
