California Gov. Newsom announced California as the first state in the nation to launch one of the country's seven hydrogen hubs.

Newsom celebrated Friday alongside U.S Under Secretary of Energy David Crane, Sen. Alex Padilla and other local, state and federal leaders in Oakland.includes up to $1.2 billion in federal funding - funding that was announced last year when the state was selected as a national hub. The Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems was the first of seven hydrogen hubs throughout the country to sign their agreement with the Department of Energy.
