A California family captured the chilling moment they fled their home in the Pacific Palisades as wildfires raged through the area. Eleven-year-old Lillian Davies filmed the harrowing escape on January 7th, showing her mother Julie driving down Palisades Drive through a thick haze of smoke. The sky in the video is a menacing yellow-gray, and Lillian can be heard exclaiming, 'We're literally driving into the fire.
' Throughout the drive, Julie can be heard praying for her family's safety and the wellbeing of their community. 'Holy Spirit, protect all the house, protect all the people-get everyone out...', she pleads. The family, including Lillian's 14-year-old sister Kelia, shared their story on Fox News' 'The Faulkner Focus'. Julie, recalling the frightening experience, explained that they received an evacuation alert while in the Highlands area within the Pacific Palisades. 'We knew we needed to get out fast,' she said. 'We started heading down Palisades Drive, which is the only road out of that area,' she added. The fire's rapid advance caused her anxiety, particularly when their car was caught in traffic near the end of the drive. 'At that point it was uncertain how long we were going to be stuck there,' she admitted. Lillian explained that she began filming as they escaped because she initially mistook the smoke for clouds. 'And then I saw the flames, and we were like, oh my gosh, there's the fires right there,' she recounted. Kelia, who wasn't in the car during the video, shared that while some buildings and her friends' homes remain standing, most of their community has been destroyed. 'And most of all, the things that we love and all the places that we used to go to are all gone. So it's been really hard. But, you know, we're still hopeful that, you know, God will come through and just help everyone through this time,' she said. The devastating wildfires have impacted numerous areas across the Los Angeles metropolitan region, including the Pacific Palisades and nearby Eaton. Both fires are among the most destructive in California's history
