A Tustin Unified School District employee was arrested in Santa Ana for alleged sexual activity with a high school student. This incident is the latest in a string of sex crime arrests involving school employees in the city.

A California elementary school employee was caught in the back of a car with a high school student he claims to have been dating for several weeks, marking the latest instance of a sex crime arrest in Southern California. Santa Ana Police responded to reports of potential sexual activity occurring inside a parked car just after 7:30 a.m. in the West Floral Park neighborhood on Tuesday morning.

The suspect, identified as Hernandez, was a classified employee within the Tustin Unified School District, working as a behavioral interventionist at Benson Elementary. Hernandez was arrested and booked into Santa Ana Jail. While officials have not disclosed the specific charges, they believe there may be additional victims and witnesses to Hernandez's alleged sex crimes. This arrest follows a series of recent sexual assault cases involving school employees in Santa Ana. Edward Baxter, the 23-year-old head coach of the Santa Ana High School girls' junior varsity team, was arrested in January for engaging in a relationship with a student under his supervision. In a separate incident in November, a choir teacher at Santa Ana High School, part of the Santa Ana Unified School District, was arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with an underage male student over a period of nearly six months. The 37-year-old teacher agreed to meet the student in Santa Ana but was apprehended upon arrival at the designated location.
