The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has rolled out an online application process for the new REAL ID, a more secure driver's license that will be required for federal identification purposes starting in 2025. While you still need to visit a DMV office to get your REAL ID, the online application allows you to submit required documents and receive a confirmation code for faster processing at the office.
