Dan O'Dowd has questioned Tesla's self-driving technology before. Now, the Dawn Project founder has paid millions for a Super Bowl ad to question the EV's safety.

O'Dowd, founder of Green Hills Software, a Santa Barbara-based company that builds computer operating systems, also ran an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate last year thatTesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the Dawn Project’s ad and campaign.
