Well-known rock climber Charlie Barrett was accused of sexual assault in Yosemite National Park, federal prosecutors said on Tuesday.
U.S. Attorney Phillip Talbert charged Charlie Barrett, 38, with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of abusive sexual contact,The charges are related to two alleged incidents, one on Aug. 13, 2016, and the other on the following day, the indictment unsealed on TuesdayBarrett was arrested in Mono County and is being arraigned at the federal courthouse in Fresno today, the U.S. Attorney's office said.
Barrett was born in Santa Rosa, and for over a decade, he has climbed mountains across California, according to a"Barrett is primarily known for pioneering some of the hardest bouldering routes in California," the article said."He wrote a series of guidebooks highlighting some of the most difficult problems in areas throughout Yosemite National Park and the Eastern Sierra."
