The Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams have finally agreed on terms for a fully-guaranteed four-year contract.
After months of waiting since the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have finally agreed to terms with No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams on his rookie contract. The former USC Trojan will start training camp with a new contract and as the starter for the team heading into the 2024 season.

Before training camp even started, head coach Matt Eberflus announced that Williams would be the starter.Williams began his freshman year at Oklahoma, where he threw for 1,912 yards, 21 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He also rushed for 442 yards and six touchdowns.Williams would eventually transfer to USC, where his innate ability would explode. In 2022 with the Trojans, he would throw for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 382 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 2022 season led to a Heisman Trophy win.In 2023, Williams was up for the Heisman Trophy again after throwing for 3,333 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 142 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite a less productive year, he was still in the running for the trophy, which ultimately went to LSU's Jayden Daniels — the No. 2 overall pick in the draft right behind Williams.Williams would forego the NFL Combine to instead throw at USC's Pro Day. He has been heralded by many pundits and scouts, and is poised to be the franchise quarterback the Bears have been sorely missing.The team used the No. 9 overall pick to draft Washington's Rome Odunze, who also agreed to a four-year, $22.7 million contract with the Bears. Odunze and Williams join a stacked Bears offense that already includes wide receiver DJ Moore and tight end Cole Kmet.The Bears were also busy in free agency, securing running back D'Andre Swift, tight end Gerald Everett, and wide receiver Keenan Allen via a trade.Williams will have a host of offensive weapons to throw to, and the hope is his football skillset translates to the NFL. Should Williams not miss a beat in terms of his natural throwing ability, the Bears could be one of the more dangerous teams in the NFC.They nearly made the playoffs in 2023 with the same cast of characters, and will now have a young and dynamic quarterback in Williams to help push the team to the next level.
